04/08/20 - The latest coronavirus changes for SafeLane Global

As lockdown restrictions have eased slightly across the UK, and government guidance has changed in both England and Wales, SafeLane staff in Ross, Gillingham and Presteigne are preparing for a phased return to office working from August the 10^th.

Whilst all business units have remained operational throughout lockdown, adhering to local government guidance, the new semi-easing of restrictions is allowing more projects to mobilise, and teams are busier than ever.

Thanks also to the easing of restrictions in a number of the international locations in which SafeLane is operational, some project staff movements have been possible.  And everything is being done to ensure those who need to get home to their families for well-earned respite can do so as soon as possible. 

SafeLane is grateful to a number of key partners, including the UN, who have helped with personnel movements so far.

Speaking about a return to the office, CEO Adam Ainsworth commented in a staff update:

“I am personally enthusiastic about this development and am sure that we will all benefit from seeing our colleagues again and being able to communicate more freely and fluidly.  I am very impressed with how you have all remained cheerful, regularly communicated with clients and colleagues, and how everyone at SafeLane has maintained the company values of professionalism, quality, integrity and passion throughout lockdown.”

Hello everyone,

This is a message to the SafeLane Global family - wherever you are in the world - and to our valued clients and critical supply chain.

In recent days you’ve probably been overwhelmed with information about the coronavirus situation.  I wanted to update you in the simplest way possible - so thought it would be easier to speak with you, rather send you another email to read.

First and foremost, my priority remains the health and well-being of our people, their families and the communities in which we all live. 

Fighting coronavirus has to be a global effort, we all have a part to play, whether by remote working, social distancing, self-isolation, helping others, or simply being kind and compassionate.

In the UK, I have closed our major back office locations and everyone who can is working from home remotely. 

In Germany, our people continue to work across most of the country relatively unaffected for now, whilst still respecting government advice and direction, which is a fantastic effort.

I have been extremely impressed with everyone’s flexibility and am very grateful for your efforts in maintaining such a high level of professionalism. 

Members of the SafeLane family are deployed across the Middle East and Africa; I know many of you are effectively stuck in a foreign country as airports have closed and you will doubtless be concerned about your families back home. 

I am doing everything possible to ensure communications and support for you whilst we weather this storm.  I am humbled by your commitment and dedication to continue supporting our valued clients. 

The work you do protects lives in Somalia, facilitates humanitarian aid in Yemen and supports UN Missions around the world. 

It is important work.

The Group ended 2019 in excellent shape, particularly in relation to cash holdings – which is now crucial to continue to pay everyone and maintain the supply chain.  So, we are in the best shape we could hope to be right now.

Above all we need to look after each other.  Keep a safe distance from others wherever possible, maintain excellent hygiene standards and ensure you inform colleagues and self-isolate if you feel unwell. 

Health facilities around the world may soon be struggling to cope with coronavirus cases so now is not the time to have a minor road traffic accident or a construction site incident.  Please take extra care.

SafeLane Global’s enduring company values of professionalism, integrity, quality and passion guide us as we, like you, face the challenge of responding to coronavirus.  Please allow me to explain the steps we are taking to enable business continuity in these unprecedented times so that you, our valued clients, continue to receive operational support:

• First and foremost, we are focussing on the health and welfare of our staff and their families. This is a global problem - everyone needs to consider each other.  Through so doing, the best possible outcomes can be achieved.
  
• We are working hard to ensure business continuity.  To that end, we have senior management meetings daily to ensure the evolving situation is monitored closely, and that appropriate decisions and actions are taken in a timely manner. 
  
  
  • Our business continuity review panel is meeting regularly, and we have built resilience into our operations. We have successfully tested the ‘working from home’ concept in case of national lockdown in the UK, and we have well developed processes in Germany.  We are confident that our processes and infrastructure are robust, our methods of communication are secure and effective, and that all staff have everything they need to remain operational at distance.
    
• Government coronavirus guidelines are being followed and enforced.
