SafeLane Global was awarded a contract for the remediation of explosive remnants of war (ERW) in Arghandi Sub-Station, Paghman District of Kabul Province.

SafeLane Global was tasked to conduct battle area clearance in the Arghandi sub-station, Paghman district in Afghanistan.

The team was required to clear 250,000sqm to a depth of 1m in support of planned construction activities.

It employed its 100% Local afghani-manned team to perform the clearance task.  The project was mobilised on time and operations commenced 02 December 2015.

Once operations commenced the team was detecting items at a depth greater than 1m.  At the request of the client the SOW was duly amended and the team were tasked to conduct sub-surface clearance of the whole area to a depth of 2m.

External QA for this project was conducted by Mine Action Coordination Centre Afghanistan.

The team found 56 items of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 169 small arms or ammunition.

All items were identified and destroyed or removed from the project site. 

Over the course of the project SafeLane Global also identified and destroyed 16 x 82 mm mortars, 2 x 120mm artillery rounds, 27 x 140mm BM-12 rockets, 9 x 140mm BM-40 rockets, and 2 x hand grenades.
