IT Applications Project Manager

Are you an IT Applications Project Manager who wants to lead a new, business-critical programme of projects across our group companies in the UK? This role will be based out of our Ross-on-Wye head office, but involves hybrid working - whilst including a requirement to travel UK-wide (our travel policy is generous!)

Here’s an outline of the role we’d like you to apply for:


You will…

  • Lead a business-critical programme of application-related projects after a series of recent mergers and acquisitions.
  • Deliver all projects on time, within budget and in accordance with agreed scope (goes without saying really!)
  • Perform scoping tasks on our current systems and work with internal and external stakeholders to create an amazing integration plan.
  • Identify new business software solutions that could really revolutionise the way we work.
  • Keep project documentation up-to-date and keep your colleagues informed of your progress (a chance to show off)
  • Create scripts and manage issues during UAT (resisting the urge to say ‘have you read the manual’).
  • Work with users to identify how their existing applications can perhaps be leveraged better to increase productivity.
  • Maintain high-performing systems for all applications and ensure constant availability to business users (otherwise they’ll complain – sigh.)
  • Be THE point of escalation within the business for application related issues and work with 3rd party support providers to ensure any issues are resolved quick smart.
  • Manage 3rd party support providers effectively to ensure application availability and readiness is always maintained.
  • Lead on application updates through a test and production environment with required support from 3rd party providers and key business users as required.
  • Development and document all application related processes and procedures.

Key application experience; CRM and ERP.

You excel in a project management role and can’t wait to get your teeth into SafeLane’s CRM and ERP software solutions.

Your amazing skill set includes:

  • Having excellent communication (written and verbal) skills (and a GSOH)
  • You’re happy to work independently in a sometimes demanding environment
  • You have good time management and are able to prioritise even when someone is shouting that their IT issue is more important than the server being on fire
  • Ability to document procedures clearly and systematically so anyone can follow along
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of staff at all levels (because sometimes the boss does break things)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Analytical and detail oriented

Your CV will show that you have the following experience:

  • Project managing application migration and integration projects
  • Providing training to users
  • Experience with data integration and backups

Ideally, it will also show:

  • Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, PostgreSQL, etc)
  • Experience supporting Salesforce, Access Dimensions and / or Sage 200 and with geotechnical software
  • Prince2 Practitioner / Foundation

This is a permanent, full-time role – 37.5hours per week – with hybrid working options.

We operate a hybrid working model – you will be in the office sometimes, you can be at home on occasion, and as mentioned – you will have the opportunity to travel extensively across the UK to meet all colleagues across multiple offices.
