Marine Science Interns
Are you a marine science graduate looking for an exciting paid internship opportunity? SafeLane Global’s expert marine team is recruiting two interns for a fixed-term contract with an immediate start and international travel.
As our marine intern you will be mentored as you join the team’s latest unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey project offshore.
This opportunity will enable you to follow a project through from pre-mobilisation to offshore operations, all the way to demobilisation.
Your three-month fixed-term contract may have an opportunity for extension, depending on your skillset and desire for a permanent role, and forthcoming contract awards for SafeLane.
About the internship:
This is a great opportunity to be involved in a full project lifecycle and learn from SafeLane’s marine team. You will be working from the office in Gillingham, Kent with international travel to various project sites. Whilst offshore, you will work to support survey personnel and continue to learn from highly qualified professionals.
You must be a motivated marine science graduate or post-graduate with a passion for your subject of study. You will be a keen and proactive person, ready to roll your sleeves up and get on with the tasks you’re assigned.
Whilst offshore, you will obviously be working away from home and will be expected to work long hours in close proximity to colleagues. This means you need to be a good team player!
If you already have experience in geophysical survey methods that would be beneficial.
Additionally, if you have a UK offshore medical and have completed a sea survival course this would be helpful.
There’s no doubt about it, this will be an inimitable learning curve for you. You’ll be mentored by the best in the business and have hands on experience of survey planning, acquisition, and real-time hydrographic data processing.
You will work with USBL systems, underwater and subsea navigation systems, and QINSy software.
This could also be your first step towards joining SafeLane’s expanding marine team.
You will be remunerated with the National Living Wage, your accommodation, travel, expenses and subsistence will be paid for whilst offshore. Finally, if you do not have your medical and sea survival course yet, you will receive both.
