SafeLane Global recruits for canine trainers who specialise in a range of disciplines, including explosive detection dogs (EDD), narcotics detection dogs (NDD) and patrol.


Upon deployment, dog handlers undergo a period of refresher training under the guidance and instruction of canine trainers, enabling them to build a strong working relationship with their paired dog(s) in order to obtain formal accreditation required to operate as a formally recognised team.


As a canine trainers, you would be responsible for delivering comprehensive training to both handlers and dogs that have been trained in a specific discipline prior to their arrival on project.

The most important task is to monitor the bond and relationships made between handler and dog, ensuring they are able to operate together and are able to complete the accreditation process.


In addition, the canine trainer provides handlers with instruction on necessary exercise, cleaning and kennel management to ensure the dogs on project remain fit and healthy in order to carry out their duties.


We recruit both English and French-speaking canine trainers, and SafeLane Global provides career progression pathways for dog handlers who are looking to become trainers.


Required Qualifications & Experience


Qualifications:


- Qualified Dog Trainer
- Qualified Dog Handler (e.g. EDD, NDD, Patrol)
- Certified in First Aid (SLG able to provide access to this training if required)
- NATO or Security Clearance desirable but not essential
- English OR French speaking proficiency


Experience:


- At least 10 years’ working as a Dog Handler preferred
- Working on canine projects in Africa and / or the Middle East is desirable
