Junior IT Manager

An opportunity has arisen for a Junior IT Manager to join the team, based at our Ross-on-Wye location.

SafeLane Global is an internationally respected explosive threat mitigation company that supports clients operating in austere and high-risk environments and is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Junior IT Manager to join our team. This role will be instrumental in managing the IT systems and infrastructure to ensure seamless IT support to our global operations. The Junior IT Manager will work closely with the operations team and other business departments to provide technical support, address IT issues, and contribute to the development and implementation of IT strategies. 

Responsibilities and Activities:

Coordinate the migration of data, systems, and processes from the existing service provider to an “in-house” managed solution.

Review existing IT architecture, identify gaps (specifically looking at migration to cloud-based systems), provide costed solutions for optimisation, and implement the approved solutions.

Monitor and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and systems, to ensure optimal performance and security.

Provide technical support and guidance to end users (including on remote field sites and to international partners), troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and resolve technical problems in a timely manner.

In collaboration with the senior management team, develop and implement IT strategies, policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Ensure Cyber Essentials Plus Certification is maintained along with any other required IT / Cyber security standard.

Procure, configure, install and maintain all end-user IT equipment and software and manage inventory, asset and account / subscription tracking.

Be the ‘Solutions Expert’ for all software systems, including but not limited to HR, Sales, Finance and operations systems. 

Contribute to the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans and participate in testing and exercises to ensure preparedness, including the maintenance and monitoring of system backups.

Manage relationships with IT service providers, including reviewing of agreements and costings to ensure services are competitive and fit for purpose and all service level agreements are met.

Provide training and support to employees on the use of IT systems and applications and promote IT awareness and best practices across the organization.

Manage the IT budget, including cost tracking, and financial reporting.

Take responsibility for support and management of the mobile devices in use by the business.

Review options for IT helpdesk support, provide recommendations, implement, and manage the preferred solution, including troubleshooting and resolving incidents as required.

Perform preventative maintenance, including checking of workstations, printers, and peripherals.

Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity threats, and recommend solutions to enhance the organization's IT capabilities and security posture.

Participate in the planning and execution of IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential

Knowledge of PowerShell scripting, managing Microsoft 365 Services and Microsoft Defender and other security tools is essential.  Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in IT support, system administration, or a related role, preferably in a global organisation.

Candidates must have strong technical knowledge of networking, server administration, cloud platforms, back up and disaster recovery solutions and desktop support.  As well as familiarity with ITIL framework, cybersecurity principles, and compliance requirements.

Experience of implementation and on-going support of CRM and ERP software solutions, Microsoft Intune (intermediate level), Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and GPO, Antivirus and MDM and Server Hardware Maintenance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
