On Tuesday 4th February 2020, the Kuwait Deputy Project Manager Claude Doppagne was involved in a fatal traffic accident in Kuwait City.

SafeLane Global wishes to extend sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Claude.  A highly experienced and respected unexploded ordnance professional, Claude carried out explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) work and lived in Kuwait for almost 30 years.

To those who knew him, Claude was a legend.

Anyone who worked in the EOD sector in Kuwait is likely to have encountered Claude, and what he didn’t know about ordnance was not worth knowing.  His technical expertise was highly valued by the Kuwait Ministry of Defence where he created a vast technical EOD library and training wing museum of ordnance: by any standards what he put together was hugely impressive.

Claude approached life with an equal balance of professionalism and humour.  Always looking for a solution and never presenting problems, he was never heard to say that something couldn’t be done.

He will be sorely missed by all of us at SafeLane.

Vale Claude Doppagne.
