Sports day in Somalia
Project staff in Somalia enjoyed an action-packed sports day organised by UNMAS AMISOM Support Project!
On another wet and rainy day in Ross-On-Wye, the SafeLane UK HQ team are happy to be inside, wrapped up warm, eating a few too many leftover mince pies…
Meanwhile, project staff out in Somalia have been enjoying some vitamin D and an action-packed sports day! UNMAS AMISOM Support Project organised an afternoon full of fun competitions including:
- Football
- Volleyball
- Basketball
- Tug-of-War
UNMAS, SafeLane, UK-Mobility Support Team and AMK9 joined forces to try and defeat AMISOM and AU Police from all Troop Contributing Countries.
Teams spent the afternoon enjoying the sunshine, plenty of laughter, and the different games. For everyone involved, it was a brilliant team building opportunity.
SafeLane’s Somalia-based staff made the most of the fun, got stuck in, and participated in all sports. Although the team experienced one or two losses, they were thrilled to have won the major event of the day, the Tug-of- War competition. Congratulations everyone!
SafeLane’s most valuable player award has to go to Vlad Trebunski. Project Manager Gordan Novak said, “Vlad was the absolute hero of the day!”
To those of us at the UK HQ, it’s not the first we’ve heard of Vlad’s sporting enthusiasm. He helped Senior Project Executive Mel and Operations Support Executive Debbie train for the SafeLane Global Gallop during their project visit. A big thank you and well done again, Vlad!
Thank you also to the UNMAS AMISOM Support Project for organising such a fun team building afternoon for everyone who is working hard out in the field in Somalia.
